Calluses: Prevention and Treatment

Calluses can be treated to obtain complete correction.  And Calluses can be prevented through the use of an Orthotic to help correctly balance and align your foot. A callus is a protective thickening of the skin that develops due to recurrent friction and pressure. Most calluses are found on the ball of the foot or on the heel; although, calluses can form in other places on the foot. The callus forms to insulate and protect the balls of the feet or other areas on the feet against the abnormal bony pressure.
Footwear is commonly blamed for the formation of calluses, but often, calluses are most usually caused over-pronation.  (more…)

IT Band Syndrome
